About Bernadette and the Farm

Qualified Florist        |       Certified Permaculture Farmer      |     Interior Designer

I worked over a 30-year period as a commercial designer on a large-scale accommodation projects.  During that period I worked hard to put forward products that were sustainable and local. I studied permaculture for a year in 2016 with the vision of buying a local property in Western Suburbs of Brisbane. My Farm is based in the heart of Pullenvale.      We found the property in 2018 and spent the first years removing the weed and installing tanks, irrigation etc. I worked for a year with the locals at Brookfield Markets to see if there is any interest in the locally grown Native Australian cut flowers and due to the amazing feedback I decided to move forward with the dream and started planting, a section at a time. I also completed Certificate III in Floristry and became a qualified florist. My passion is driven after reading an article in Australian newspaper about importing our own native flowers from overseas countries. I love local, organic produce and our wonderful community.

The Farm

I developed the farm to supply local customers Australian Native cut flowers. Sadly, Australia is the largest importer of Australian native cut flowers, we import from all around the world, and the product arrives at our shops after going through a fumigating process and is old. I am determined to supply a better product for our local market here in Brisbane, a product that has been grown sustainably and taking careful consideration of the local flora and fauna. We only harvest 2/3rds of the crops and leave 1/3rd for the wildlife.
